Nutritional Therapy Goals

The fundamental goal of Nutritional Therapy is to empower individuals to take an active role in their health. A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) helps clients work toward optimal health by supporting and balancing the following five foundations:

  • Digestion
  • Blood Sugar Regulation
  • Fatty Acids
  • Mineral Balance
  • Hydration

These foundations are built upon a single, solid base: a properly prepared, nutrient-dense diet.

While Nutritional Therapy can help restore balance and support overall well-being, it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. NTPs are trained to assess nutritional needs and recommend dietary changes and supplements, but they do not provide medical diagnoses or prescriptions. Any comments or recommendations from your NTP should not be construed as medical advice.

Achieving optimal health requires commitment, potential lifestyle changes, and a positive mindset. If you are unwilling to make adjustments to your diet and lifestyle, Nutritional Therapy may not be the right approach for you. Because every individual is biochemically unique, specific results cannot be guaranteed.

Health Concerns

If you have a medical condition, you should consult with an appropriate healthcare provider. A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner is not a substitute for a physician or other licensed healthcare professional and is neither trained nor authorized to diagnose, treat, or manage diseases, injuries, or other medical conditions, nor to prescribe medications.

If you are under the care of a healthcare provider or taking medication, it is your responsibility to inform them of any dietary or supplement changes recommended through Nutritional Therapy. Some nutritional protocols may influence medication needs, making it essential to communicate any changes with your prescribing physician.

If you experience any physical or emotional reactions to Nutritional Therapy, discontinue use and consult your NTP to determine whether the reaction is adverse or a natural part of the body’s adjustment process.

Client Responsibilities

Each client is biochemically unique, and responses to dietary changes and supplements may vary. Your success with Nutritional Therapy depends on your commitment to:

  • Following the nutrition guidelines provided by your NTP
  • Consuming a properly prepared, nutrient-dense diet
  • Avoiding harmful foods, substances, and behaviors
  • Engaging in regular physical activity
  • Prioritizing sleep, rest, and relaxation
  • Keeping open communication with your NTP to ensure proper adjustments are made

If your healthcare provider has questions regarding Nutritional Therapy, they are welcome to contact your NTP.

Licensure & Certification

Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (NTPs) are not licensed healthcare providers. The Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc.® issues a certificate of completion to students who meet all course requirements, including written and practical exams. Certification and licensure laws vary by state and are subject to change. NTPs and clients should be aware of and comply with the regulations in their respective states.

Client Privacy Policy

During the course of Nutritional Therapy, your NTP may collect relevant personal and health-related information (hereafter referred to as “Information”), including but not limited to:

  • Full name, physical address, email address, phone number, and date of birth
  • Health history, including past injuries, surgeries, and medications

This information may be collected through intake forms, questionnaires, evaluations, interviews, phone calls, emails, or video conferences and is used to:

  • Assess your nutritional needs

Your NTP will retain your Information while you are an active client and will take reasonable steps to securely dispose of your data after your engagement ends.
